Lose That Belly Flab!
How many of us as we get older begin to widen across our midsection? Carrying excess weight around our midsection does more than expand your waist line. The consequences of our ever expanding belly bulge have several far reaching negative health effects. Apart from making you overweight, the excess fat causes disease such as Heart disease, Lung Cancer, Breast Cancer, High Blood Pressure and Diabetes - just to name a few. Research has found over the years that the fat around our midsection isn't just simply lying there to be 'exercised' off. These cells are actually quite active and can produce hormones that increase insulin resistance, which can lead to Type 2 Diabetes. Other types of hormones released can cause oestrogen to be released after menopause that possibly may increase the chance of breast caner.
As we age our metabolism slows down, and the fat in our bodies increases. Although we may have the belly bulge we can see on the outside, it's the fat on the inside that is most cause for concern. This fat is 'visceral' fat and lies deep inside your abdomen and encases all your internal abdominal organs. It is important to know the more of this type of fat we have, the more increased risk we have of acquiring the diseases mentioned above.
In America alone research has found that more than half the men are obese or over weight, often carrying the excess weight known as having a beer belly, or pot belly. Women also have the same problem, however usually as they get older (and after menopause) the fat shifts to the hips, thighs and legs.
To much fat around your middle (or anywhere on your body for that matter) is extremely unhealthy and has many unhealthy consequences as outlined above. In order to maintain health we must lose the belly fat through good consistent exercise and improved eating habits, which will in turn improve your metabolism. This activity combined will put you at a reduced risk of health problems while improving existing health problems.
It is never to late to embark on a healthy lifestyle change, to increase your chance of living longer, and eliminating unwanted health risks associated with excess belly fat. A few simple changes to your diet and an increase in physical activity can make a world of difference, and could be the difference between life and death. You will not only lose the excess fat, but you will feel better and have alot more energy. Your life expectancy will also increase allowing you to spend more time with loved ones - so it is well worth the change in lifestyle to keep your health.

Guaranteed tips on how to succeed at losing weight and being healthy without fad diets
How can you lose weight without dieting or being active? Well the answer is simple - you can't! There are so many quick fix diets out there promising you the earth and delivering little. Let's face it we all know deep down that it's literally impossible to lose 10 pounds in 7 days (like one of those fads that are currently being advertised on the net) - ok so you might lose it on the scales. But think about it - what have you actually lost? Certainly not fat that's for sure - only a whole heap of fluid. And once you finish that fad diet, we all know what happens then don't we? The weight all comes back on in no time - and the worst part about it is most of the time you end up heavier that you were in the first place. This wreaks havoc on your self esteem - I know cause I been there - many times over and over.
In all my time dieting, exercising, starving myself etc. I've come to realise the only way is to eat healthy and to be active. Eating healthy can be hard you might say - well that is true, how do you pass by all those yummy things in the shop and not buy them? Everything is so tempting!!! It's called will power, and it's so hard to get. What you have to ask yourself is how bad do I want to lose weight and be healthy? How important is your health to you? If it's really important and the desire is there, it really won't be hard work at all. Remember, dieting should never be for a set period of time - for example you might want to lose 10 pounds in 10 weeks - its ok to set goals for yourself - we need them, but remember what you are doing to become healthy is something that you should be able to continue doing for the rest of your life, not just for the next 10 weeks or so, and then go back to the habits you originally had.
What about the exercise? I hear you say - I can't be bothered, all too hard and besides I don't have the time!!! Again, that may be true, but you probably haven't found the right type of exercise for your self. Exercise isn't meant to be feared!! It's meant to be enjoyable, and there are so many forms of it out there too. You don't have to join a gym to exercise, it may be going for 30 minute walks 5 nights of the week or so, or swimming, or even just doing the gardening. The whole point is to be active - so get off the couch and move your butt! You also need to stop using 'I don't have the time' as an excuse - cause that's all it is - an excuse - there is always time for exercise, like I said you just have to find the right type for yourself. It may be just using the stairs at work, or getting off a bus stop earlier and walking the rest of the way to work. There are endless things you can do.
Having said all this - there is also one other must have when it comes to eating healthy and being active - having a support network. Having your friends and family around you supporting your efforts to lose weight and look after yourself is paramount to you succeeding. You need all the support you can get, and without it, it can be quite hard to get motivated and stay on track. Sure we all have times when we go off track, but that's when that support is most crucial in helping you get back to what it is you really want.

Hello! Welcome To My FIrst Blog :-)
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am very new to this 'Blog' business so please bear with me while I learn how it all works! I have recently become a new mum to a baby boy - Max, he is now 2 and a half months old. He is a great baby - text book you might say - so I'm very lucky. I had a very unwell pregnancy for most of the 9 months, with the morning sickness lasting all day and all of 6 and a half months - dreadful. Along the way I didnt get out much or do any form of exercise, even walking I found hard to do especially towards the end as I would be cramping up so much. Anyhow when i became pregnant my weight was 78 kilos. In my 1st trimester I lost 6 kilos from all the sickness, so became 72k, and I am now 88.3k, so i have a bit of weight to drop. This story is primarily what leads me to write this blog. I am embarking on a weight loss journey to not only lose the extra weight I gained in my pregnancy, but to get to my weight goal of approximately 63 kilos which is what I weighed about 5 years ago (I am 37 years old now). I have joined a gym, and enlisted the help of a personal trainer. I have already had 3 sessions with her, and they have been great. I thoroughly recommend using a personal trainer because they really get you motivated and push you to your limits - which is exactly what I need right now.
My blog is going to be made up of my entries, as well as articles I write on fat loss, and other tips and information I feel will be helpful for weight loss. i hope you enjoy reading it, and thankyou for joining me on my journey!
